GET-ER-DONE CLUB OF GORDON 9/11/11
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 AM at Gordon Ball Park by Tim Johnson with 10 members & 4 guests present.
Secretary Report: Approved as sent on a Tim/Robin motion. (w/ correction of place of this meeting!)
Treasurer Report: Approved as read
Correspondence: None
Trail Committee Update: (John W.) – New routes presented for viewing by members. We are still awaiting approval from Plum Creek & Town of Gordon for a couple of areas. Wausau Paper requests a meeting next week to sign contract. They will need to see proof of insurance for the club. Tim will coordinate date with Brett, himself & Wausau Paper. Many thanks to John W. & Brett for a job well done! (NOTE: The contract was signed 9/14/11).
Building Committee: (Marvin) - Reports great attendance at the last meeting. Next meeting will be 9/20 at North Shore @ 7PM; all members welcome. Bob H, Mike B & Larry are getting estimates for electric, building & water installation for next meeting. The meetings will be changed to Sat. morning in the future to accommodate the out-of-town members wishing to attend. Committee is looking to the heli-pad as the build site pending Town Board approval, as suggested by JC. Building size considered is approximately 28-30’ x 72’ (not firm on length as may not need much more than 40’) w/12’ lean-to.
Old Business:
County Road Signs: Signs still not up; Dan Corbin (NWTA) is contacting the County Hwy Dept as to why?
Grooming/Barnestormers/C. Haakenson: Tim requests approval of $500 to Barnestormers again for maintenance of Trail #17 from YGBy to Cabin Store. Motion by Vicki/Marvin carried.
Chad is researching hours vs. # of trips. Marvin suggested the club purchase a 300 gallon tank for fuel to avoid off-road taxes. Decision tabled until next meeting.
Fall ride: Cancelled due to membership conflicts.
Oct meeting: Scheduled for Halfway House (for sure!)
Douglas County Youth Rep: NWTA has selected Alisha Corbin from South Range.
Jackpine Riders update: There has been long-standing concern about maintenance of trails by them. They now have new officers with Chris Farmer as President, Dave Wicklund as VP, Dave Krenz as Treas & Wayne Larson remains secretary. Tim met with Chris after the last NWTA meeting reviewing the trail funding procedures. They have actively been working on summer maintenance with emphasis on grading WRT south, removing some of the ballast. NWTA is asking users to be patient while they improve maintenance practices.
August Fundraiser - Final recap of events: Our profit is down from last year. We might want to consider a change of date and/or events offered. Discussion of future events will be tabled to a later meeting when committee leaders are present.
New Business:
Land Lease Agreement – Tim reports he is currently working on the lease agreement with JC.
Thank you: Tim extends a “Thank You” to Keith Postl for not only grading the ATV Pull course but maintaining the Cemetary trail on Cty Y.
County Trails Clean-up: There will be a “slow” start to snowmobile season due to the condition of the county trails.
Meat Raffle –None held in July or Aug. Next meat raffle will be 9/24; contact McNamara’s as workers are needed.
Snowmobile map: The ad letters were sent out by NWTA with due date of 10/1. Expect map distribution by Dec.
Commercial Memberships: Mick reports all commercial memberships are current with the club with the exception of Poodle Inn. For the 2nd year in a row, she has refused to renew directly with the club but has mailed her payment to AWSC. This results in her dues not being paid with the club as the AWSC does not reimburse the clubs for memberships they receive. (Current AWSC dues are $45.00 with $35.00 payable to AWSC through the club & the club keeping $10.) AWSC reports she was encouraged by them both verbally & through written notice to send her dues direct to our club; she refused but wanted to remain on the club roster. After discussion by members, a motion to send the Poodle Inn a letter regarding delinquent club membership status was made by Vicki/Marvin – motion carried.
Christmas Party: With so few active members present discussion was limited to the type of party. Suggestions were to hold it at a neutral site so no member has to do any work; cater finger-foods; no fundraising – just a party for members. Further discussion was tabled until next meeting.
Vice President Report – None
Miscellaneous:
. 50/50 Raffle: Collected $14.00/ Winner: Doug Moy (guest) $7.00.
. Think Pink Poker Run: Scheduled for 10/1. Information regarding same will be distributed to members next week.
. Eau Claire Acres route: Per John W., Wausau Paper has temporarily taken this request off the table as they will be doing timber sales in the area this fall. We can revisit this after the cuts.
. Fundraising: Marvin suggests researching placement of pull-tab machines in sponsor businesses for a less labor-intensive fundraising method. McNamara’s is agreeable to this. Tim will research. John Robel & his riding from Janesville suggest a “Bikini Car Wash”.
Motion to adjourn: Motion to adjourn @11:15 AM by Marvin/Bob - carried.
Next meeting: Sun, Oct 9, 2011 @ Halfway House - 10AM
Respectfully submitted by Mick Johnson, Secretary
